Huehue's a selfish asshat, and won't go out of their way to help unless there's something they can get out of it. They might throw your character to the wolves just because they're curious for the result.

World Information:
Identical to the modern world, species from mythos all over the world exist here. They are called Anothers, unable to be perceived by the average human eye and unable to be understood by the average human ear. But their presence can affect the physical world around them; i.e. when they combat each other, strong winds and other effects can be felt by the normal world. Most of the Anothers seem to be regional, such as in Japan, historic Youkai are the Anothers present there, though there are some exceptions to this rule, but those are ones who often chose to travel.
Personal History:
Huehuecóyotl (Wiki Link) is the God of music, song, and dance in the Aztec religion. But is also known as the trickster God that causes men and Gods to fight, bringing chaos and murder just for their own amusement. They are feared by many as a God of Calamity in more modern times.
Huehuecóyotl met a powerful Onmyouji by the name of Abe no Seimei, who mistook Huehuecóyotl for a black fox, despite the numerous times they told Seimei they were in fact a coyote. Even though Seimei was an Onmyouji, he never forced Huehuecóyotl to serve him, and they befriended each other. Seimei was known to have a thirst for knowledge and the stars, and Huehuecóyotl was happy to share the stories of their voyages with Seimei. Seimei gave Huehuecóyotl the name Kohaku, in respect for their amber eyes, and Huehuecóyotl loved it, happily taking the name.
Of course, humans aren't immortal, and the time came in which Seimei eventually died. Huehuecóyotl has faithfully waited for their friend to return ever since.
Huehuecóyotl has had a Welcome for Seimei in the making for months before Arata arrives, having kidnapped four teenage girls from different schools in Tokyo. Huehuecóyotl is first seen riding a ten-necked, nine-headed monstrous bird that brings calamity, a Kisha, in the sky in several places all over Japan. The Kisha's tenth neck is always spilling blood, and this blood riles up Anothers. Huehuecóyotl also severed, and stole, multiple Izuna (Living Iron Weasel) tails, and soil from an ancient tomb.
Arata is presumably the reincarnation of Abe no Seimei, who is also his ancestor. Arata has the Ears of Sand, which allows him to understand Anothers as they don't speak the language of humans. Other civil servants can't understand Anothers, and make educated guesses to understand the situation, explained as, "Much like trying to understand a dog or cat." Arata is recognized as Seimei's reincarnation by multiple Anothers.
Shortly after Arata starts at the Nocturnal Community Relations Division, a select group of people, called civil servants, who can see Anothers that help maintain their relationships with people and protect the people by extension. Although most people can't see Anothers, their abilities do impact the world around them, which may sometimes cause problems. Here he meets and works with Kyouichi and Theo, and they introduce him to the world of Anothers. After Arata has his ability to see Anothers, Huehuecóyotl begins to set their plans in motion.
They steal faerie wing powder, a Zashiki Warashi protector Goddess' hair, and mermaid scales. With a report of strange fires on top of Mount Hakoneyama, the civil servants head there. In the area, they find a portal seal. Theo begins to explain what it is, based on the imprint and the matching supplies stolen. When Arata reaches out to touch it, Kyouichi tries to stop him, but they both get pulled into an underground location.
When the two arrive, Huehuecóyotl is there to greet and recognises Arata as Seimei, calling him as much. They say their present for Seimei has just been finished and are happy he arrived. Moving corpses, Kyoshi, emerge from their cells to attack, while Huehuecóyotl says that they're perfect for their reunion, telling Seimei to have fun. These corpses are preserved bodies from World War II that were intended to be reanimated back then by occult means, but were abandoned when the war ended. Thus Huehuecóyotl used these bodies in their ritual.
Theo is joined by other divisions of civil servants, but ends up joining Kyouichi and Arata on accident, mid-explanation to other civil servants about the ritual being used. Huehuecóyotl notices this and comments that it's rare for Seimei to be with humans. Though they say it's reasonable to assume he's changed since it's been such a long time. Arata, Kyouichi, and Theo run to safety, putting up seals between them and the Kyoshi. When Arata demands to know what works against them, Huehuecóyotl appears behind him, telling Seimei to think for himself. At this point, Arata snaps and says that he isn't Seimei. At first, Huehuecóyotl is confused, then says they thought he was, but that no longer matters. Huehuecóyotl opts to kill the group in their disappointment, saying the effort for their friend has gone to waste, and that they don't like how Arata resembles Seimei.
Upon hearing this, Arata suddenly changes his tune, claiming to be Seimei. Huehuecóyotl is immediately thrilled, happy that they can play together. When the Kyoshi break through the walls to get to the civil servants, Theo says they have to find and destroy the altar to stop them. They all run again, and find a thread that animates one of the Kyoshi, following it to try and locate the altar. But Huehuecóyotl asks if it will truly be so easy to destroy it. Arata asks why they're doing this and what the point of it is. Huehuecóyotl responds with, "When you see a big machine in front of you, don't you want to turn it on," saying how they wanted to surprise Seimei with it. They knew that the humans would panic if they took the ritual to the surface, as humans can see Kyoshi. And that's all for their reasoning. Arata gets angry and asks who Huehuecóyotl is, and they say that they are Coyote, Seimei's friend. They tell about how they kept correcting him, but Seimei always called them a black fox, playfully saying it's rude.
Arata and his group find the altar, only to discover that the threads controlling the Kyoshi are coming from the four kidnapped girls. Huehuecóyotl smirks, saying that they would have to kill the girls if they wanted to destroy the altar, and wonders what Arata will do now. Arata calls them an idiot, saying he won't negotiate with them and that he'll save everyone. Theo laughs, saying he's never seen anyone call an Another an idiot before. Huehuecóyotl makes the girls attack Kyouichi and Theo, trying to force him to make a choice as the girls strangle them. They ask if he will forsake his friends. Arata freaks out, asking what Huehuecóyotl wants from him.
For a moment, Huehuecóyotl looks remorseful and says that they honestly didn't mean to take it this far. They explain that they're a little upset that they've reunited after so long, but Arata acts like he doesn't know them, refusing to say their name. That's why they just kept going with it, taking it further and further. Huehuecóyotl perks up and gives Arata the condition that if he can say the name that only Seimei gave them, they'll let everyone go. Arata thinks back to a story he heard from his grandfather about a youkai that Seimei never forced to serve him but befriended: the Black Fox - Kohaku. When Arata says the name, all of the Kyoshi and the girls stop, returning to their original selves, and Huehuecóyotl is thrilled.
Back on the surface, everything smooths over. The boss of Arata's civil servant jurisdiction asks who the Another, Huehuecóyotl, following him is. When he says it's Coyote, Huehuecóyotl says they're not interested in any other name than the one Seimei gave them, though. However, they do give themselves a proper introduction, saying those who serve them call them Huehuecóyotl. When Arata relays this information, the group freaks out - they're not just dealing with an Another, but a chaotic God of disaster. Theo tells Arata that he'll be exiled from the country if he's discovered to be haunted by something like that. Huehuecóyotl says that it's rude of Theo to say, because they didn't kill that many people as they continue to drape themselves on Arata. When Huehuecóyotl calls him Seimei again, Arata demands that Huehuecóyotl stops calling him Seimei, as it's not his name. And they happily comply.
Huehuecóyotl begins living with Arata and his Nekomata, Yuki. They wake Arata up one morning after his alarm clock goes off by slamming their hand on the back of Arata's to turn the alarm off. Huehuecóyotl then begins to tease Arata, saying they tried to mimic the clothes to this day's fashion, but asked Arata if they should wear something more appealing to the male eye. Arata talks about not wanting Huehuecóyotl in his room, and they point out that Yuki's okay, asking why they aren't allowed. They tell Arata he wasn't like this before. This causes Arata to ask what Seimei was like, and Huehuecóyotl is happy to reminisce about the past. They tell about how Seimei's thirst for knowledge and how Huehuecóyotl gave him a lot of information, such as the world being round, and his interest in the stars before Arata has to rush off to work. Huehuecóyotl stays home to tease and play with Yuki. With Huehuecóyotl being relatively docile for now, the organisation considers them not to be a threat.
Later on, when the organisation is doing their review on certain known Anothers in the area, a police officer gets taken by an ogre, Gongen, who happens to also be the God of a shrine. Gongen intends to drink with the officer for the next hundred years, but Arata says he can't do that. Gongen takes it as a challenge, and Huehuecóyotl emerges at this point, saying to make it a drinking contest. They propose that if the civil servants win, they get the police officer back. Arata is angered by Huehuecóyotl's actions, but Huehuecóyotl just tells him, "Don't you save everybody and go back with everybody? Or are you abandoning him this time," quoting Arata from the Kyoshi episode. Arata and the others reluctantly agree to the drinking game. When Arata asks for Huehuecóyotl's help though, they say they can't help or it would be unfair. Gongen, however, says that Arata can bring whoever he wants for help. Kyouichi tells Arata to go call for backup, and Arata ends up finding the Monkey Anothers that love drinking. They invite themselves to the drinking party, and this gives the group the window they need to rescue the police officer. Huehuecóyotl stays behind to drink and enjoy the party as well.
One day, Huehuecóyotl notices a girl, Izumi, leave from Arata's house after a promise of going to the festival, appearing jealous. They then depart and go to see Azazel, the one who helped them get the four girls for the altar. Azazel is piecing together a girl of his own with parts from other human girls. He says he's missing a left hand, and Huehuecóyotl says he thinks he knows someone who fits the bill, clearly indicating Izumi. They say this is the thanks for his help before.
In the Shinjuku area, several missing girls start showing up and awaken in hospitals, with the strange occurrence that none of them have aged since their disappearance. One talks about how she was engulfed in black sand. This gives Kyouichi a clue to his sister's whereabouts and he asks Arata if he can speak to Huehuecóyotl about the Another who gave them the girls. Even though Arata agrees, he can't seem to find Huehuecóyotl anywhere. However, on the day of the festival, Izumi is kidnapped by Azazel, and Arata realises that Huehuecóyotl must be involved, calling out to them. Huehuecóyotl appears with a smile, saying, "You called?" Furious, Arata demands to know where Izumi is. But Huehuecóyotl says that she's in a place he cannot reach - Hell.
The civil servants begin their search to try and find a way to Hell. However, when they find the school that should inevitably have the gate, Huehuecóyotl says that it's no good because they can't enter even if they find it. If they go to Hell, they'll die. Arata says that might not be the case and demands that Huehuecóyotl take them there anyway. Huehuecóyotl lightly mocks him, saying they never thought that might be the case. Still they agree to take the group to Hell, and they tell him to entertain them with his escape. They open the portal for the group. Huehuecóyotl leads the way, explaining Azazel's plan to resurrect his lover by using key components of other girls. At this point, Izumi's left hand no longer is able to move.
They eventually arrive at the gates, which are guarded by Cerberus. Cerberus attempts to eat the civil servants, but when Arata puts his life in danger while defending Theo, Huehuecóyotl interferes. They command Cerberus to leave, as no one is allowed to have Arata but them. They then proceed to scold Arata for putting his own life in danger. Everyone proceeds to enter the room where Azazel is, finding Izumi as well as Kyouichi's sister, who is now blind. But when the resurrection ritual ends with the soul screaming how it wishes to stay dead, Azazel destroys the body and puts the soul back into the cage, wondering what he did wrong again. Huehuecóyotl laughs about it, saying Azazel is usually so emotionless, but that he has such despair on his face right now. The lord of Hell intervenes, returning the civil servants and the two captive girls to the surface. Once there, the things stolen return on their own to their rightful owners.
Later on, Arata is sulking. When Huehuecóyotl asks him what's got him down, Arata tells them he's angry that they put Izumi in danger. Huehuecóyotl just says it was for a friend. Arata asks if they'll do anything for a friend, then, and they say they would because they're a friend. Then, for a moment, Huehuecóyotl seems sad, then wonders if they could see their friends today. They grab Yuki and drag Arata along. Yuki is pleased by this, and says Huehuecóyotl must be nice to cats since they brought him along. Huehuecóyotl says they are because Bastet is scary when she's angry. As they take Arata and Yuki on a trip all around the city, other Anothers end up in an uproar, as Huehuecóyotl is a known God of Calamity and thus makes Anothers uneasy. However, when they walk into a certain area, a three-footed Crow Another attacks them. It turns out the Crow is Kuro, and also served Abe no Seimei, who he recognises through Arata. Upon this realisation, Huehuecóyotl asks Kuro to take them all to Seimei's garden.
As they are being guided, Arata asks Huehuecóyotl what they did in the long time that Seimei has been gone, and where they had been, too. A garden emerges before their eyes, shining all around them. Finally, Huehuecóyotl answers that when Seimei left and without someone to call them Kohaku, they did not exist. They ask what Arata would name them if they could. Arata says that they would still be Kohaku. Huehuecóyotl says that's right, satisfied with the result, and says they're going home with a smile, leaving the others behind.
Arata gets to pair up with some civil servants from City Hall and comes to learn that other divisions, especially those at City Hall, believe that he may be serving or controlled by Huehuecóyotl to bring chaos and City Hall tries to use Arata to help them destroy the source of cocooned baby Anothers. Huehuecóyotl offers their insight, saying there will be a festival and that those cocoons are important. They also say they're envious, as those cocoons could make something perfect. They also happen to mention they saw humans do something similar a long time ago. They say they'll show Arata when their silk project is done, asking them to be excited for the conclusion. However, Huehuecóyotl starts protesting when City Hall starts to burn all of the cocoons. The mother of all the cocoons, the Silkworm Princess who is also a God, watches, and Huehuecóyotl offers to eliminate the humans for her. She moves to take care of it herself, and Huehuecóyotl scoffs, saying they thought they could get her to owe them one. She wraps all of the humans into their own cocoons, save one who calls Arata for help.
One of the City Hall civil servants makes his escape using his knives and moves to eliminate the Silkworm Princess. But Arata shoves him, telling him to stop. Arata talks to the Silkworm Princess, promising that they will all spin the silk for her in order for her to survive. He also gets the help of Tengu and Angels, proving that the Ears of Sand are not worthless. Huehuecóyotl even helps to weave the silk, even if it is to selfishly make their own clothes with it. Although the Silkworm Princess is still furious at the humans for their sins, she does forgive them for Seimei and his success. Huehuecóyotl also has made new clothes from the silk, showing them off to Arata. They say that they're going to the festival and they will bring presents back, taking Yuki with them.
Later on, Arata ends up bringing home an Another from a broken vessel. Huehuecóyotl is upset, saying that it's not even trying to hide its divine presence. When Arata refuses to kick the Another out, both Huehuecóyotl and Yuki abruptly leave. But when Arata starts to suffer because the Another's presence is draining his life force, the Another says he's leaving because he doesn't want to kill Arata. Still, Arata insists on helping him regain his name and a new home. Eventually it is revealed that it is the Slavic God Volos from Ukraine. His vessel statue is found, restored, in a museum, and he reconnects to it. And so Volos gets to travel with his vessel now, possibly all over the world. When Volos leaves, Huehuecóyotl and Yuki return immediately to Arata's side. Huehuecóyotl asks if Arata wants to do something fun, saying they found some pretty cherry blossoms to look at. Arata rejects it, and Huehuecóyotl offers fishing instead, undeterred. When rejected again, they just opt to go with Arata to work.
Personality:
Huehuecóyotl is hedonistic in almost the purest sense - they live to serve themselves and their own ends. If they want something, they don't generally hesitate to shoot for it. Things exist for their personal amusement, as far as they're concerned, and it is otherwise too far out of their reach to do something that doesn't benefit themselves, either in the present or down the road.
Their hedonism manifests most often in finding the best way to have fun. It doesn't concern them who gets put into danger, so long as they get a result of some kind. Huehuecóyotl enjoys pushing buttons to see how things will unfold afterwards. It's less that they have a hypothesis and is more just curious to how personalities are. They are hardly concerned if something doesn't turn out the way they thought it might. Everything is practically a social experiment to them, and this need to social experiment has led to wars and calamity breaking out amongst humans and Gods alike. Early on, Arata even compares them to a "child pulling a fire alarm," as they're interested in just having fun and fulfilling their curiosity.
This does tend to have some slight variances, however, when there is someone they actually care about. While they claim to have many friends, these exceptions are particularly evident with Arata. Huehuecóyotl seems to view Seimei romantically, and continues to reflect that onto Arata. As such, while they might throw Arata to the wolves, they will intervene if Arata is ever in any actual danger. They do make it very clear that they don't care what happens to any others who are with Arata as long as Arata is safe, and thus anyone else saved from the line of fire just happens to be nearby to Arata enough to be in the area of effect. If they do help others, it's for curiosity or self-serving needs, such as having others owe them.
However, Huehuecóyotl does show at least some level of basic respect for some things. Such as when Yuki comments on them being nice to cats, they say that they don't want to anger Bastet. Whether that means Bastet is their friend or they fear her is up for a little debate, but it still stands that they don't wish to anger that particular God. It happens few and far between, of course, but there are those times that exist.
Huehuecóyotl also exhibits jealousy. Such as when Arata arrives, and Huehuecóyotl tells him that he hasn't even called them by the name he gave them when he was still Seimei and that's part of the reason they exacerbated their prank too far. Arata compares them to a pissed off girlfriend because of this. And even further, when Izumo asks Arata to come with her to the festival, Huehuecóyotl immediately goes to Azazel to tell him to take her and use her body parts for his own devices, hardly caring about any rebuttal. They would much prefer that Arata only notice them, and will seek to eliminate those they feel are in their way.
As an Aztec God of the performance arts, Huehuecóyotl has a deep love and respect for them. In fact, one of their particularly favourite places to visit is the Tokyo Dome, because of the big stage, the loud music, and everyone's excitement. It's possible this feels akin to worship to them, and thus fills them with joy. It goes without saying that they love to participate in such events as well. In mythology, these were the ways many would try to appease Huehuecóyotl in the hopes of having their blessing.
Overall, Huehuecóyotl is generally curious and fun-loving, but their actions serve them and them alone. Any care they do manage to show others is extremely stunted that it almost seems to be nonexistent. The best way to get them to do anything helpful is to find a way to appeal to them, be it by curiosity or favour. They view others as personal playthings and will try to manipulate them as such. They don't view the others they've killed in the past due to their social experimenting as much of a bad thing; they're just the fatalities that happened to fall in their experiments, much like broken dolls. Such is the way things happen, after all.
Key themes:
Being with Seimei/Arata; Jealousy; Poking the bear.
Main Motivation:
Curiousity; Self-fulfillment; Fun
Skills:
Shapeshifting: They often shapeshift most between a black coyote or human in appearance, but are capable of transforming to match whatever appearance they wish. This seems to extend to the clothing they wear as well. This is also used for seduction purposes in mythology.
Ritual performance: They are capable of gathering the necessary items, by nefarious means or otherwise, for and perform the necessary rituals to obtain a desired result. In their first appearance, they've gained a Zashiki Warashi's hair, tomb soil, iron weasel tails, and four teenage girls to create the altar in order to reanimate the dead in a surrounding, underground area, and a portal to such as well.
Flight: Kohaku is usually seen hovering about, even though they can walk as well. This is their preferred method of travel.
Illusion: They are shown creating a transparent orb of light that is like a bubble to show how the world is round and relative locations on it. As they are able to shapeshift other aspects of themselves, they are able to create willful illusions that help them explain what they're talking about. Possibly to be initially used for storytelling.
Command: Probably because of their God status, they have the ability to command lesser Another. Shown particularly when telling Cerberus to stand down from eating Arata. Though they don't exact this very much at all unless the outcome threatens something they value.
Strength: They can lift and hover people with relative ease, but this seems to differ with heavier Anothers. This is seen when Yuki goes full size, this causes them to drift back to the ground from the weight, but doesn't seem to be affected as much with humans of similar stature.
Manipulation: As a known God of Calamity, Huehuecóyotl is widely known for sowing discord amongst others. Of course it is for curiosity on their part, but they will often say what they feel will ignite a fire under another's rear in order to get them to participate in their experiment.
Performing Arts: As the God of Performing Arts, Huehuecóyotl is excellent at dance, song, storytelling, and such.
Item: The blue shirt they made from the cocoon silk.
